Media Release:
The PGA of Australia is proud to confirm its five-person team to contest the fourth edition of the Women’s PGA Cup to be held at Carden Park Resort in England from September 3-5.
Held for the first time in 2019, the Women’s PGA Cup brings together female PGA Professionals from Australia, the USA, Canada, Great Britain and Ireland, South Africa and Sweden every two years, each three tournaments to date played in the US and won by the home nation.
Making her second Women’s PGA Cup appearance, Melbourne Golf Park’s Grace Lennon will captain the PGA of Australia team that also includes Katelyn Must (Maroochy River Golf Club, Qld), Sienna Voglis (cluBarham Golf and Sports Club, NSW), Nicole Martino (Wembley Golf Complex, WA) and first-time representative, Danni Vasquez-Boyd (Royal Canberra Golf Club).
The format of the tournament is 54 holes of strokeplay where the low three of five scores per team count toward the team total each day.
The team will be managed by experienced PGA of Australia administrator Sue McCall as all five players seek to expand their knowledge as PGA Professionals in a competitive environment.
“Each PGA Member to have taken part in the Women’s PGA Cup not only enjoys the opportunity to represent the PGA of Australia, but to also learn from PGA Members from other nations,” said PGA of Australia CEO, Gavin Kirkman.
“We see the Women’s PGA Cup not merely as a reward for these five PGA Members but an investment in their careers as PGA Professionals that will serve to further advance the golf industry in Australia.
“Knowing the impact that Grace, Katelyn, Nicole, Sienna and Danni are already having as PGA Members, I’m excited to see their careers grow from taking part in the Women’s PGA Cup this year.”
For Lennon, who won The Athena during the 2023 WPGA Tour of Australasia season, captaining the PGA of Australia team for the first time brings an extra sense of pride and responsibility.
“It’s a big honour for me to be named captain, and I’m really looking forward to the opportunity to lead the team,” said Lennon.
“Because I had the experience of being in the team last time, it’s good timing for me to step up and be captain, so I’m really looking forward to it.”
Currently the General Manager at Wembley Golf Complex in Perth, this year will mark Martino’s second Women’s PGA Cup while Sunshine Coast-based Must has played in the past two editions in 2022 and 2024.
Club Manager at cluBarham Golf and Sports Club on the Murray River, Sienna Voglis was part of the original team in 2019 and returned to the side that finished third in 2024.
Graduating from the PGA of Australia’s Membership Pathway Program at the start of 2024, Vasquez-Boyd is currently a key member of the PGA Professional staff at Royal Canberra Golf Club and has extensive experience playing on the WPGA Tour of Australasia.
Runner-up at the 2023 Australian Women’s Classic at Bonville, Vasquez-Boyd has had an aspiration to represent Australia at the Women’s PGA Cup since becoming a full PGA Member in 2024.
“When the team was put together (in 2022) and they posted on social media, I was like, Oh, this is hectic. I really want to do this,” said Vasquez-Boyd.
“You are not eligible to play in your first year out, but you can do it the year after, so I was like, Yep, I’m going to do that.
“I can’t wait to compete over there against other PGA Professionals.
“That’s pretty cool in itself, but to also get the experience playing in a different country for the first time is very exciting.”
